Meet James

James Hulme

Accredited Exercise Physiologist

BEXSc, MClinExPhys, ESSA

Since moving to the northern rivers in 2004 I have graduated high school and university, travelled the world, spent the last 20 years learning to surf and became a father. I now live and work in Ballina and have created a life here for my family and me. You’ll find me in the gym training mostly early morning sessions and when I’m not there I am busy being a father, surfing or exploring our beautiful hinterland. My favourite thing to eat post workout is a red papaya with fresh squeezed lime on top. I take a range of supplements depending on what’s going on with my body and mind but my regulars are a whey collagen blend, electrolytes, zinc and astra 8 for immunity so I can show up for my clients at 100% most of the time.

Over the years I have been involved with many community groups and organisations including the Uncle Project, Suffolk Park Football Club, Stone & Wood Brewing and forming a not-for-profit community group Men’s Health Byron Bay to name a few. In 2019 I completed a master’s degree of Clinical Exercise Physiology at Southern Cross University and I have spent the past few years building my skill set to help motivate people experiencing depression and anxiety to make sustainable improvements with their health and well-being. I first fell in-love with the Jungle community in February 2023 because we nurture everyone in our tribe to become the best versions of themselves with pride and humility. I have so much more room to grow here and so much more to give.

For many years I have battled with my own mental health, and I have been lucky enough to have the education and skill set to develop coping strategies when times get tough. I strongly believe in the power of exercise as a tool for managing stress, anxiety, and depression, particularly among men. My goal is to create a positive impact by promoting mental wellness and guiding people towards a healthier lifestyle. I have been dedicated to helping people level up their health and well-being through exercise and other lifestyle changes. With a deep understanding of the human body and mind, I create personalised exercise programs and provide support to empower others on their journey to optimal mental health.
